To strengthen the Legal Department, we are looking for a Head of Legal with strong interpersonal skills, for a position in Amsterdam.
The successful candidate will have working knowledge of corporate legal department processes and workflow and must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of staffers, managers, senior leaders and business partners.
He or she will build strong relationships with the various functions within the Legal Department and other stakeholders within the Group, including the technical units, service operations, Finance, IT, Human Resources, Procurement, and have experience driving organizational change.
This candidate will also have demonstrated international experience, as well as experience with risk mitigation, leading projects, including project management, and technology implementations. (note: our clients plans to continue growing its full-service locomotive leasing business, strengthening its fundamental bases (asset, function, profit, customer, organization base, etc.), and to challenge new business development. Therefore, this candidate needs international experience for a wide variety of business/projects.) This position reports to the CEO.

Functie
The Head of Legal (A) will lead a team of legal professionals responsible for driving and supporting any legal, operational, corporate, structural and strategic matter of the company. (B) Will advise to the companies operational and corporate departments as well as to the board of directors regarding any legal, operational, corporate, structural and strategic matters. (C) Will efficiently manage sophisticated international projects with respect to all legal matters.
Responsibilities
Manage a team charged with supporting the Legal Department’s operations, including:
• Identifying and implementing methods to improve department efficiency and productivity
• Build and manage to strategic and tactical plans to address and align legal strategic priorities
• Develop, manage and implement communications approach, strategy and program for internal and external department communications
• Supervise lease, purchase or other operational contracts, as well as financing contracts (off/on balance sheet financing), and assist in negotiation of any other contract which the company enters into.
• Supervise retrofit projects utilizing national as well as EU subsidy programs.
• Supervise the external legal counsel activities.
