Head of Legal (vacature gesloten) – Rotterdam area


Stand-alone position with broad responsibilities. A private equity owned scale up dedicated to a social purpose: closing the loop on plastic recycling. Work with a passionate team with various backgrounds, all dedicated to create a better environment for their children and their children’s children.


Our client is an international provider of innovative technology, which enables the conversion of biomass and (plastic) waste into a dense, carbon-rich product gas. This gas can be used to produce high-value chemicals, green fuels, and/or electricity. This technology stands to spark a global transformation by closing the loop on the plastic recycling, reducing humanity’s carbon footprint, while diverting waste from landfills and incineration.

To strengthen the team, we are looking for an enthusiastic Head of Legal and Company Secretary who is willing to take ownership and who sees and seizes opportunities.


You will provide legal support to management in the development of company’s customer base, partnerships, intellectual property, and organization. You will be in contact with international colleagues on a day-to-day basis, liaise with external advisors and work in a dynamic environment. You have a broad scope of work with various jurisdictions and translate business needs into (practical) legal solutions. You will report directly to the Executive VP Finance.


• Master’s degree in Dutch law.
• Around 7/8 years of relevant working experience.
• Experience with commercial contracting and corporate law, preferably in an international context.
• Knowledge of intellectual property law and/or the energy sector is a plus.
• Flexible personality. Be able to work in a team, but also independent with minimal supervision. You know how to prioritize in an international and dynamic environment.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills and strong business sense.
• Willing to take ownership and do whatever needs to be done in an enthusiastic and proactive manner, and a strong work ethic with a high degree of accountability and organization.
• Knowledge of English (and Dutch) on a professional level.
