Our client, a commercial mobility insurer has become the UK’s first insurtech unicorn startup. The London-based business will now accelerate the expansion of its product offering across Europe and beyond. From the EU Head Office in The Netherlands, the EU Legal function will support the existing EU branches and wider the EU expansion.

A proactive Dutch qualified Lawyer/Legal Counsel with expertise in the area of Insurance regulation is needed to make sure they play by the rules at all times and to work alongside a talented group of people who are motivated by change. That’s why we are looking for an EU Associate Counsel.

Functie

You will help to develop the company’s legal ways of working in Europe. To do so you will conduct proactive research to stay up to date with all applicable regulations and rules and you will be an all-round legal advisor to assist in the company’s ambitious growth plans. You will be advising on Dutch law, including all aspects of insurance regulation, contracts with European partners and distribution of insurance products throughout the EU, as well as general Dutch law/day to day issues. You will support the existing EU branches in the Netherlands, France, Spain, and Ireland with all of their day to day legal and operational issues, and you will support wider expansion to initially include launches in Italy and Germany. You will work together with the Netherlands-based Senior EU Legal Counsel and UK-based General Counsel, as well as the local law firm partners in the European markets.

Functie-eisen

• You will have a minimum of 5 years experience of working as a lawyer either in-house in Fintech, Insurtech, or Insurance, or at a reputable Dutch law firm. With particular expertise in the area of Insurance regulation, and some experience of Corporate and Commercial law is preferable but not mandatory.
• You will be someone who exhibits sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, and a track record of taking ownership, leading legal analysis, and influencing results.
• You understand the business of law and not just the law of business.
